I was born in that summer when the sun didn't shine
I was given the name that doesn't feel like it's mine
Lived my life as the good boy I was told I should be
Prayed every night to a religion that was chosen for me

Sold my soul, broke my bones
Tell me what did I get?
Did my time, toed the line
Ain't seen anything yet
Strike me down to the ground
You know I've seen it before
Make it hurt, I'll eat the dirt
I just don't care anymore

How could you break my heart?
Already played my part
I kept my promise, man
Show me the promiseland
Don't occupy my throne
Give me the crown I own
Lived like you told me how
Look at me now

Well, let's get into it! This is going to be just sort of a general, thought-dumping sort of thread; twitter but with fewer filters and no character limit. So, what's on my mind right now:

Right now I'm just hopeful that people want to come here and use this space. My opinion of the internet right now is that the social media landscape is too public, there are too many people I don't know watching my every move when I'm on twitter or tumblr or what-have-you. It's too damn hard to build a real community that isn't just, you know, fandom-at-large.

So I've built a little house and I'm inviting my friends to come hang out in it. And we can talk without some rando listening in and deciding they need to be part of our conversation. And we can have linear posts, and we can reply to something said hours ago without feeling like we're interrupting the current conversation or like it's weird that we're jumping in all of a sudden.

The two best social sites I've been a part of were livejournal and the sluggy.net forums. And part of that is that the internet was smaller back then, but part of it is just, how those sites worked, what they do that other social media just doesn't anymore. And I want to bring some of that here.

So! Forum. With flists. As well as I was able to put it together.

It's little, but it's gonna be mine.

The one thing that's missing: an easy way to say "I agree with this" and/or "I like this" and/or "This is cool" and/or "good thoughts and wishes to you" and/or "this is funny" and/or "I See you."

I therefore state that posting a blank post with a star icon = one or more of the above indicated message(s).

(Assuming I can do that. We'll find out!)

.how quick bright things come to confusion.

Yeah, I wanted a react system but didn't find one when I was looking, and then I forgot to look again. I'll give it another go after I eat something

People are genuinely [surprised pikachu] that Lee would block them for liking posts shit-talking him and it's just wild that they would think this is an unreasonable reaction

Even if it weren't, fuck it, block anyone for any reason. Preventing people from seeing your twitter is not the end of the world. They need to care less.

I have discovered that Oz has been leaving crumbs of her food in the carpet and so has a nest of ants

Just noticed that quick reply is turned off for this forum, I'll have to go through settings and enable it everywhere

Today I continue to deal with ants. I've been going over the floor with a wet wipe where-ever I notice them, and I have ant traps set up in the closet where they're coming from. If it continues to get worse I'll have to actually spray in there, which I don't want to end up having to do. Oz is very sad that there are ants on the floor, though.

I've also just got off the phone with Chewy for the second time in as many days, because they for some reason need to verify my order of one (1) box of cat litter and a bag of dental treats, and for some reason the person I called yesterday didn't bother to actually follow-through on the confirmation process. I've been out of fresh litter for a week now and Oz is starting to find other places to pee, so I'm very hopeful that this is fucking resolved.

Continues to would have been really nice if they'd bothered to tell me at any point that I needed to verify the order in the first place.

Today is also a recording day for Arcadia. We were supposed to record yesterday, but had some issues with our internet connectivity that I didn't want to fight during a recording, so we're going to try to tack it on with today's scheduled recording because the people involved in it are also involved in today's. So it's going to be a little bit more work than recordings usually are, but also we're introducing two characters that I'm excited to see interact, I believe. Arcadia is a good show, everyone should listen to it.

The ants seem largely contained and hopefully stay that way. I baited the ant traps with peanut butter, because I've never actually seen an ant trap work on its own, and that does seem to be working. Certainly there are much, much fewer ants now and they're all staying in that small area. With luck there'll be none tomorrow.

I didn't like the react system I'd downloaded, it was very clunky and the options weren't working right. So I found a different one after much searching (people who request react systems just get linked to the former) and we're gonna give that one a try. So far I like it better, which is good because I had to pay for it, which means I've now invested money into this little project so I hope y'all enjoy it here.

(It was three entire dollars, a truly wallet-breaking investment)

But I've got a list of emojis to replace the defaults with and I'll get to doing that later.

I'm pleased with how things are turning out, still-in-progress as they are. I like having a little space of my own, where if someone says 'hey I would like a react system' I can say sure and make it happen, or if I notice the theme's icons are unclear I can edit them myself and get that knocked out in five minutes, or if a transphobe shows up I can just ban them instead of having to report them and end up getting told they weren't breaking the TOS anyway so nothing anyone can do about it.

I also just, am not in a space lately to want to meet new people and make new friends. I want to re-establish relationships and hang out with old friends. And I want to put those friends in a jar and shake it until they're all friends too.

Welcome to my jar!

In the ongoing war against the ants, I am pretty sure I've found where they're getting in from, and I've attempted to seal it with wood glue, which is all I could find that might do the job. We'll see if that stops them; hopefully between that and the traps, I don't wake up to the infestation getting worse again
