Slow at work last night and actually got some writing done!

Amazing what I can do when my coworkers shut the fuck up for two seconds

It felt good and I'm excited to get more done, so hopefully that push undid the brain static I've had towards writing since Rumor died. I've been able to work on some things here and there, but actually sitting and writing has been difficult.

This morning I'm doing a bit of maintenance (baking some more salmon for my meals today and tomorrow, prepping another batch of coffeedrank, probably need to do a quick vacuum/apartment tidy) and then will exercise and keep truckin' along. It's my Thursday equivalent, so the weekend approaches sooner rather than later, which is appreciated.

My credit card is officially paid off!

That was my one line of debt that I can reasonably affect (I have student loans pending the government deciding whether or not I actually do, and my car still) and had built up a bit due to vet bills and moving expenses. Now that's paid off I can start allocating funds to savings, which is a brand of adulting I'm definitely overdue for. I haven't had a responsible savings for many years -- I used all mine up when I lost my job and The Dark Times initiated, which is, like, what a savings is for but still fucking sucked and has been very difficult to recover from.

Anyway, yay! Brief feelsgoodman celebration and then back to tasks, since it's my Friday equivalent and I need to take care of a few chores so Weekend Erika is set up for success. I'm sleepy and unmotivated but, man, who isn't?

It's my Sunday equivalent!

Yesterday was nice, I got my chores/exercise/etc. done and then played video games and did some projects. I specifically started playing Dredge, which I've been excitedly anticipating and just got released the other day. It's very good so far! It's an eldritch horror fishing game, essentially, where horror/tension slowly builds and you have a Call of Cthulhu-esque panic/sanity meter. It's a lot of things that are right up my alley (I adore fishing minigames in particular -- I was, however, pleased to see the accessibility options have a "peaceful" fishing mode where you always succeed at the minigames, in case people want it/need it!), but it also seems to be executed really well so far. I'm excited to play some more of it, and also excited for D&D this evening.

For now I'm gonna tidy up some tasks/chores (gotta finish laundry, about to take Baby Dog on her afternoon potty walk so she can have lunch and, since it's the 1st of the month, her monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventative) and then I think I'm gonna keep leveling Summoner in Final Fantasy 14 until I decide to break for exercise. After that, we'll see how I'm feeling! Maybe more Dredge til D&D time. Away I go!

Last night's D&D drawing was to render Greggo's dog Roku (who has lost an eye from cancer but has fully healed and is doing great) as an Elden Ring boss! I think it turned out cute

It would be like with Rennala where Ranni intervenes and you fight a fake, penultimate version of her. You engage Roku, the Goodest Boy, and then pat him on the head when he brings you the sword and you use that sword to fight uhhhhh

sounds of frantically flipping through pages

Ukor, the ... Meanest Boy!!!

and then when you beat him you go back to reality and give Roku another pat on the head, bcuz he is v. good

The end

I had an extra day off (ended up with a personal day I had to use or lose, so) and have spent it resting, doing projects, and generally having a nice time! The weather was lovely out today so I went on a run and had a relaxing walk or two with Baby Dog. Speaking of Baby Dog, she has begun Shedding Protocol -- I'm lucky in that she's honestly a very low maintenance dog when it comes to grooming needs for 90% of the year, but once springtime temps start hitting she blows coat and I spend probably two solid weeks feeling like I am constantly dealing with dog hair. I gave her a bath today to knock off as much loose fur as possible, so hopefully that helps.

(spicy take: I feel like most people overbathe their pets???? obviously there's nuance in this argument but I feel like your pet should be taking care of a lot of grooming needs themselves -- it's okay if they're not, and deffo sometimes they need help especially if elderly/got into something gross/have a floof coat that you don't want constantly all over your house/etc. but sometimes when people talk about the frequency at which they give their dogs, especially, a full soap and water bath I'm like my brother in Christ I think you just hate the way dogs smell)

Hooookay Sophie and I are gonna long distance watch some Babylon 5 after I make her help me pick FF14 Silas' Summoner outfit dang that's a gay sentence I just typed ANYWAYS let me hop off to do that, and to get some more writing done. I've been doing good and I wanna finish! this dadgum! novel!

additional spicy take: dog owners need to stop scolding their dogs for cleaning themselves, like yes if your pet is being neurotic or hurting themselves by licking a raw spot that's one thing and I do get having a threshold for not wanting to hear the gross slurping sounds anymore but you do kinda,,,, like you gotta let them do the thing
