I often read to Lee while he makes dinner, and tonight we just started Raising the Stones by Sheri S. Tepper, and I already love it. I love Tepper's writing style so much, and this book opens with the death of a god so you know it's gonna be good.

(I love that you do this. So much. Thank you. It’s one of my favorite things.)

So two months ago, I woke up with my eyes super inflamed, super light-sensitive, felt like they were full of sand. It was awful, but I flushed them out with clean water and went back to sleep to let them rest, and when I woke up again they were mostly fine. Figured I'd gotten something in my eyes that scratched my corneas while I was asleep, since I'd been doing yard-work that day and spraying dirt off of things with a hose. Didn't think too deeply about it after it was over.

Today I woke up with one of my eyes super inflamed. No idea what I could have done to irritate it, this time, possibly both incidences have been allergies, though it would be weird for it to just be the one eye. It actually feels like the inside of the eyelid got cut or scratched and that's the issue, but I flushed it out when I woke up, went back to sleep hoping it would be better again, and then woke up and it was better but then rapidly got worse. Flushed it again, went back to sleep, and now I'm in the same position again -- felt better, getting worse. I think I'll need to keep it closed and covered until whatever's wrong with it is healed, and of course doctor if it keeps being an issue

Unfortunately there was an Arcadia recording scheduled today, and part of it is recordings that have needed to be rescheduled already, which is annoying. But I can't read fluidly with just one eye, and keeping using the other one is probably making things worse. Also, obviously, missed the torah study

Okay, I have finangled my eye-mask to be an eye-patch, I'm going to, go figure out something to do with myself that doesn't involve too much seeing.

I decided to woo Alex next but I do will probably do Shane after that, I just know it's probably going to actually affect me emotionally and need to be prepared for it

Alex is the football kid right? His story/romance is cute, imho. I avoid the teenage-seeming characters in general (Abigail, Maru, Seb, etc) but Alex is a sweet tragedy himbo 🥺

I thought they did alright by Shane in the end, some notes spoiler cut in case you do/don't want to know what you're in for --

They do have him hit a pretty visceral rock bottom but then he agrees to go to therapy and get some help and is available for romance at that point, and I think they did an okay job not making him seem magically cured overnight/forever. It's definitely A Lot and Stardew isn't the best storytelling environment to explore that brand of alcoholism but I was happy for him, they show him getting back into hobbies and spending time with his family.

Appreciate the spoiler cut! I am avoiding all but the very broad strokes of the different storylines

Alex is the football boy, I'm interested in how his insecurities play out. And yeah, if I weren't being a completionist about it, I wouldn't date any of the younger-coded options. Once I see all their heart events I'll probably amicably divorce them. Even if I were actually interested in them, I imagine a house full of thirteen adults and two children is going to be a mess

Eye seems to be fine now! A little sore but not particularly light-sensitive or watery. Just kind of feels like it's very slightly too big

In the ongoing war against the ants, I am pretty sure I've found where they're getting in from, and I've attempted to seal it with wood glue, which is all I could find that might do the job. We'll see if that stops them; hopefully between that and the traps, I don't wake up to the infestation getting worse again

Vinegar is fairly effective in thwarting ants.. doesn't kill them but they don't like crossing a spot that is vinegar-y.. an attitude that i am totally with them on ;D

Today was a bit of a lazy day, spent a chunk of the morning relaxing with Oz until I fell back asleep. But when I woke up again we ran all the sprinklers and made notes of which ones need their nozzles replaced and which ones are probably fine but need to be adjusted, the latter of which I'll go through and check probably tomorrow or maybe day after. Then had a small conflict with Lee that we then talked through Like Adults, and it's not really resolved but we have a clearer idea of what the issue is, which counts as a win.

I read to him while he ate dinner, we ate and watched a couple of youtubes (the latest Call Me Kevin and the latest Helluva Boss), then we went to my room to play a little bit of Phoenix Wright. We've just finished cross-examining April May in the first non-tutorial case

As for Ant Watch 2022, no signs of their return, so tomorrow I'm going to clean the closet and make sure there's nothing in there that could get Oz sick, then work on re-setting it up for actual use. Then I'll keep watching for a while to make sure that doesn't attract them back.

I have burnt out on Stardew, so I'm poking at different things to occupy my nights -- right now I'm working on getting the last few achievements of Dangan Ronpa, but that won't take me very long. Might dive back into translation playthrough of Tunic, but I think I'll want something that requires a bit less focus than that. Will have to browse through my library for something. Maybe finally bring playstation back in here and play Elden Ring or No Man's Sky? We'll see what strikes me when I'm done achievement hunting

Thinking about how many anti-choice people are adamant that the fetus shouldn't be punished for the actions of its parents

And how many of them also believe that birth defects are punishments for the mother's sins

But God does that so I guess that makes it okay

Also trying very hard to fall back asleep. Woke up with a migraine that was trying to manifest all day yesterday. I've eaten and taken painkillers so I'm hoping if I can get some more rest I'll be fine when I wake up again
