I have an Arcadia recording tomorrow that Absolutely Must Happen (though between you and me, and not to shit-talk my co-stars, but one of the people involved has developed a bit of a reputation for missing sessions or suddenly being unavailable for them. Completely not their fault in almost all cases, life gets in the way of all of us at one time or another, but, you know. It's a pattern. They're also the reason why tomorrow's needs to happen Tomorrow, because they're also very difficult to schedule around (this is also my fault, because I've gone and started taking a class in the middle of the day when most of everyone else is free). I'm just saying that if something goes wrong tomorrow I won't really be all that surprised) -- so I should go to bed here in a minute so I can be awake for it. There was supposed to be a recording today (uhhhh, Tuesday) that didn't happen because one of the actors' throats was acting up, which was a bit of a boon because I was up late the night before and then Cael kept me awake by playing in the litterbox (ugh). So I should be more responsible tonight.

Hopefully said throat is better tomorrow, and not worse.

I want to get some more Inform reading done before I go to sleep -- I just did the math and there are 455 chapters in the guidebook (not even looking at the other book), and I've only read 38 of them. I'd like to set a goal of finishing the dang thing in a month, so I'll be trying to read fifteen chapters a day. Thankfully they're short, each maybe a page long, but 455 pages is still a lot of pages. Fifteen pages is still a hefty chunk of pages. It's daunting, but hopefully I get a clear enough picture of things to start messing with it while still working through the book. I just don't actually know everything the language is capable of out of the box and I don't want to marry anything until I know what my options are, you feel me.

Anyway. Doing that. Well, getting ready for bed and then curling up with a manual and reading a few more pages of it and then going to sleep.

We have successfully recorded the scheduled bits! The plan for the rest of the day is reading Inform documentation and playing more 999; the pool guy is here now but when he's gone I'll see about fungiciding the roses. I also should water plants again, and while I'm out there take my little walk around the pool

Made myself some eggs and while that was cooking I gave my square pan a much-needed and very thorough scrub. Still needs some more love, but it'll get there

Alright, fungicided the roses! It comes out to about half a teaspoon per cup of water, which I've written on the bottle so I don't have to do the math again (hopefully). I did get covered in fungicide while I did it, so when I was done I bagged my clothes to get washed when the washer is free and jumped in the shower.

Now for things I can do while sitting

"Van Helsing"
The Drawbridge is a room. North of the Drawbridge is the Immensely Enormous Entry Hall. West of the Entry Hall is the Vast Dining Area. North of the Vast Dining Area is the Colossal Kitchen. The Spooky Guano-filled Attic is above the Entry Hall.
Count Dracula is a man in the Attic.

Every turn:
if the location of Count Dracula is not the location:
let the way be the best route from the location of Count Dracula to the location of the player, using doors;
try Count Dracula going the way;
otherwise:
say "'Muhahaha,' says Count Dracula."

This is what Inform code looks like, by the way. That's a programming language. Fucking wild

"Odin"

The House of a Mortal Farmer is a room. "Having two separate rooms, this house testifies to considerable wealth and success at agriculture."

The Bedroom is inside from the House.

A chair is a kind of supporter. A chair is always enterable.

In the House are a table, two chairs, a basket, and a hearth. On the table is a loaf of bread.

The description of a thing is usually "You give [the noun] a glance, but it is plainly beneath your attention."

The infant is a man in the basket. The description of the infant is "So strong and fat that you wonder whether one of your fellow gods is acquainted with the mistress of the house-- but it's no concern of yours, of course."

Test me with "x table / x chair / x infant".

I wanted to throw a spice cake into the oven, so I did! I did have to wash my loaf pan before I could, because it got put away dirty, which is annoying but I as a rule don't really have to do dishes so it's not, like, the end of the world to have to wash a couple pans. I did also do another scrub of my square pan and got it back to 'good enough', though it's honestly at the point that it should just get replaced. It has been well-loved by at least three households and it's reticent to give up its evidence of that

So spice cake is in the oven and I'll have that to eat as a snack for a couple-few days. I did also throw my laundry in the washer, and when it was done I was like, this doesn't need to go in the dryer, I can just hang it to dry, so I also did that. It does mean my slippers are moist, because I did also throw those in, but they get moist when I get out of the shower too, so, like, whatever

Also emptied the dishwasher

A thing that is happening that is a minor problem is that I am much more distractable since starting to actually treat my brain stuff -- I hadn't had, like, enough thoughts to get distracted by? And now my brain is actually active again and doing things, and consequently my tools for handling distractions are rusted and I'm out of practice and need to get back into gear, there.

But like case in point, I put laundry in the washer and thought several times 'I should set an alarm for that' (a thing I generally do immediately after putting stuff in the wash, and if I don't do it immediately I pretty reliably do it upon getting back to my room) and then didn't, several times, until two hours later I realised the laundry was probably done.

(I did set an alarm for the cake.)

Alright, I am halfway through my Inform reading for the day and it's already 11:30, so I should get to that.

The cats were very upset incidentally, that the milk was going into the batter and not to them
