Reptile show! Was fun, had much the same stuff they've had at previous shows. The iguana they had on display this year looked healthier than at previous shows. Damn near no one masking but us, and for the majority of our wander I was sure it was just us, but ash saw one person masking at some point and near the end I saw two (was one of them the same person ash saw? Possibly!), so that's cool.

This morning was one of those mornings Oz is hungry but refuses to eat her food, and when I got home I discovered she'd knocked the tub of cat treats off a shelf and spilled them all over the floor, so she's been a nuisance all day. I don't know if she ate any of her food while I was gone -- hopefully. I do know she's unlikely to have eaten any of the treats (she knocked them over on the way to getting to a dirty dish I need to take out to the kitchen).

Going to do my homework finally, and eat a lunch, and then who knows.

Homework done, and while I was working on the professor graded three more assignments including the ones I had gotten "ambitious" with -- full marks on all

Class done! It was. We read out the example sentences for adjective conjugations then did an exercise conjugating adjectives. Then we were sent off into breakout rooms to do a pair-work exercise that, didn't seem to have anything to do with being in pairs?

Screenshot_2024-04-29_15-44-32.png

Like usually it's got a question-answer format, 'ask your partner x, partner answers y and asks z, answer a' -- this is just, say a sentence? Person 2 says a sentence? I don't know, and I didn't know what to do about it in the group. But also I got put into a breakout room by myself, then moved to a different room with five people already in it, then moved to a third room with two people in it, and those two people said, uh, basically nothing the entire remaining time. So! That was a miserable failure of an exercise, honestly.

When that was done it was about time for class to end, so she asked us a couple more questions and then let us go. We're back to most of the class not being willing to participate unless explicitly called on (and even then,) -- just very low-energy, which is rough and I feel kind of bad for the teacher.

There wasn't any homework assigned when I looked right after class, but there is now -- a quiz on friday and four pages of adjective conjugation. I'll work on that soon

Today's dad's birthday and I tried calling him a bit ago but he didn't answer, so I sent a text. I have been kind of avoiding reaching out to him, honestly, because I'm very worried that something has happened to him (cf previous details about needing to attend an AA meeting and having an upcoming trial for his DUI) that no one has bothered to tell me about (this happens unfortunately often in my family). No response, so hopefully he's okay.

I'm going to go garden and get some sun, and then I'll have lunch and see where things go from there

Dad called back -- his trial date is June [something] and he found a place within walking distance to attend AA meetings. He apparently has one tonight that he had to get off the call to go to, so hopefully that does something for him

Officially swapping Cael to getting one full scoop at about 6 instead of half a scoop at 4 and half a scoop at 11

Finally got the playstation set back up, and in the same place it was before which leaves the HDMI cable going across a walkway at about knee height, which is not ideal but that's the only spot I can think of where the cats can't fuck with it, so. Fired up Elden Ring and made a new character, spent a couple hours refamiliarising myself with the controls and the game logic, then fired up my main save and wandered around aimlessly because I still have no idea what I was doing when I last played (I was at the Church of Ellah when the save loaded, which is a stone's throw from the start of the game and a pretty weird place to be at level 113). At some point I pulled up the 'game progression guide' and started going to all the places it suggests (I did find a couple things I hadn't done by doing that! So that's neat) and at some point I'll start getting to wherever it is I'm supposed to be at this point.

So I did that for a few hours while watching a game grumps and then a Dougdoug VOD (also an Elden Ring thing; I like watching people play the same game I'm playing, for certain games, it feels nicely parasocial). But it's 1 AM now and I should get to bed. Tomorrow Dave and I are going to play a video game! My plan is to have dinner and social with ash for a while and then break off to do that, I think tentatively we're going to start a Stardew farm together. Wednesday, Sor and I are going to watch last week's Dungeon Meshi and we might make that a regular Wednesday thing (as regular as we're able to make anything, anyway). So I've signed myself up for a bit of a social week. I also also really should get to dad's house again soon, it is not good that I put it off like I do.

But right now bed! Or, well, getting ready for bed, and probably a podcast, and then bed.

I was gonna do my homework today but then I was like 'Man I wish we covered this stuff in class before we did it on the homework, that would make it so much easier' and then I realised that, we're covering it in class tomorrow. So I'm going to do the homework on thursday.

Today I'm going to play more video games

Yesterday morning was actually really nice. I woke up, rested, about an hour before my alarm and got to lay in bed eating breakfast and listening to a podcast before I had to get up and get ready to go to class

This morning Oz woke me up at 8:40 by having to throw up. I stayed up for a bit and then went back to sleep until 12:30

I did in fact play video games all day! I played Elden Ring for a while, then I hung out with ash, ate dinner, watched part of a dougdoug vod with him and then an episode of taskmaster. Then Dave and I played Stardew until almost 1 AM -- he has a goal of drinking mayonnaise so we're working on making that happen. We just got a coop and some baby chickens when we logged off, and at least one of us has the blueprint for a mayonnaise machine so we just need to make that happen. We're going to continue again next week

Tomorrow, class, of course, but also plausibly Dungeon Meshi with Sor. I just finished the rest of my dinner, so I'm going to go get ready for bed
