Class is done and woof. Today was Rough. Like half the class is claiming microphone issues at this point and most of the rest just, don't even care enough to give an excuse they just don't bother speaking ever. Worse, one of the other students who does reliably participate was audibly losing their voice during the first half of class, and then in the second class naturally didn't try speaking at all, and apparently they are the life of the class because fuckin no one was responding when the teacher prompted us to, except for me and that is such a terrible feeling of being the only person putting himself out there, just All Alone on stage when you're not supposed to be. It was awful and I hope that person's voice is better next week.

I hope the professor's evening class is better -- I have gotten the vibe that that class is more enjoyable than the afternoon one, from discord conversations, and if that's the case it's not because of anything the professor is doing, I guarantee it. It's just that our students kind of fucking suck!

Anyway, we went over some homework, we watched some Genki videos, we did some exercises conjugating adjectives into positive/negative past tense (which is mostly what our homework is). We have one more week of regular class, which will be reviews, and then the week after will be finals I guess. So class is basically over

I need to do the homework but will probably work on that tomorrow. And I need to do gardening but the pool guy hasn't been here yet (it's too soon for him to not have been paid again, right?). Sor and I may or may not be watching a Dungeon Meshi later. I'm going to have lunch and video games for a while, for now.

Yeah, someone from my class missed it and so sat in on the evening class today, and says it was "energetic". Previously someone from that class said the teacher "made class interesting" and a bunch of students from my class were like ???

Watching another Dougdoug VOD and someone used the text-to-speech he enables for donations to do a 'trans rights!' style shoutout, some people complained about it in chat and he was like 'I try to make this a welcoming space to everyone and think its cool when people shout out members of their community and wish them well, if you don't like it you're free to leave' and that's very cool of him (if the bare minimum for being a decent human being)

I disagree with Dougdoug on A Lot of things, but he seems like a pretty chill guy and I'm happy to just keep quietly disagreeing with him on like, infrastructure or whatever while enjoying laughing at his content, which I can do because he's not enabling people to wish for the death of me and my friends

Seems like that should be a really easy bar to clear, honestly

One page of homework done, including doing some extra studying trying to make the two kinds of adjectives make sense. I know there's something going on here that is easier than everyone makes them out to be, I know there's going to be some super obvious explanation that will crack this whole thing wide open, I just haven't been able to make it stick yet.

Time for my hot 'how it's taught' take of the day! People shouldn't teach i- and na-adjectives at the same time and doing so makes it needlessly confusing for students! Teach one, get it solid, then teach the other instead of throwing them both at people at once and expecting them to keep it straight. In fact, teach na-adjectives immediately after teaching noun conjugations and teach i-adjectives immediately after teaching verb conjugations

Anyway, one page done and now I need a break. I'm pretty tired today, I didn't get quite enough sleep, and I'm feeling just sort of generally out of it. I'm probably not getting all the homework done today, but I'll try for another page at least. There's four total I need to do. And a quiz tomorrow.

I'm honestly very ready to take a break from language learning

I should go spend some time outside and see if the sun doesn't wake me up. Then maybe video games for an hour or so
