Okay! Plumber came by, snaked our kitchen cleanout pipe because he couldn't find one for the bathrooms but the sink in the kitchen was also affected, so. (The city guy also couldn't find our bathroom cleanout pipe, and I have been unable to find anything but did find a second cleanout in the laundry room, which is right next to the kitchen so it would be weird for those to be our two cleanouts for the kitchen and bathroom. I dunno! I am not a plumber). Seemed to be a grease clog, everything seems to be working now, no one seems concerned that the laundry room floorboards were seeping water. I guess if we get another issue we'll, call again?

Disinfected the sink. Hung out with ash for a while, but he's got a nasty migraine so we just watched a couple things (a Dungeon Meshi, a game grumps, a scaredy cats) in the dark with the TV's brightness turned down, and he's gone to bed to lay down in the dark until he goes to sleep. I am video games and youtube again, but also I need to figure out a dinner for myself since he wasn't up to cooking. I'm going to snack on dry cereal until I'm ready for a proper meal and then I'll make a sandwich or something. I have one remaining arby's sandwich from birthday lunch, might nuke that but I'll need other things in addition to it

So all in all it's a good thing I asked for the vet appointment today to be rescheduled, today was very full without it.

Awake since six o'clock this morning due to Cael running all over the place and shouting -- still no idea what he wanted, just to get some energy out, I suppose, but there was also a nasty smell from the litterbox so I got up to take care of that. The costco food isn't agreeing with him, I think, his digestive issues are coming back. Going to give it a bit longer to see if he'll maybe adjust to it, but I suspect not. At this point I'll likely have to just buy him the same brand of adult food as I do his kitten food -- I'd really like not to because it's nestle, but one's morals and principles must always take a backseat to one's responibility for the wellbeing of the creatures we've taken into our care, and if that's the only food he'll eat and that doesn't upset his tummy then I'll just have to get it for him.

Anyway, took care of the litterbox (it's due for an actual clean when I'm actually up, but I just covered it better and lit a match over it to get rid of the smell. The other litterbox is clean already, I just didn't have the spoons to take care of both in one night) and then I stayed up for a while and read Babel, and then I was hungry so I ate a bit while reading Babel, and then I brushed my teeth and got back into bed and read more Babel. I have about a hundred pages to go and am definitely well into the climax. It's a very meaty book and takes me a long time to get through, but I am quite enjoying it

I stopped when my brain kept wandering away from the text and I kept having to go back and reread bits because I'd stopped paying attention. Isn't it weird that we can do that, just keep reading without actually absorbing any of it? It seems like your eyes should stop moving at that point but they just keep going without you

Anyway, going to get some more sleep now. Due to ash's migraine I'm going to dad's on Saturday instead of today, so it won't hurt anything but my attempts to get my sleep schedule on track to sleep in today.

Accidentally startled Cael and he jumped straight up and landed in his water bowl

Finally finished Babel last night! I'm glad I just ploughed straight through to the end, because I think I would have been disappointed by it if I'd read it just, on its own. As it is, the ending didn't quite do it for me, but the book as a whole is very good. It's very much A Tragedy, about colonialism, a majority of the characters die and we're left not knowing anything about whether or not their sacrifice did anything at all, let alone fixed anything. The characters and setting are very well-written and the amount of research that went into this thing is staggering. I enjoyed it! And it's gonna stick with me, I'm sure, but I'll probably largely forget about the ending in a year.

Went over to dad's and when I got there he was like 'do you want to get something to eat?' and I was like 'uhhhh suuure?' So we went to a fish and chips place. It was very good! I got a raspberry mint lemonade that was, weird, but I didn't get to finish it because our uber driver wouldn't allow drinks in his car which is, whatever. Like I get it but if you're driving people around you're risking them making a mess in your car, that's the job. So that got wasted and I'm a little bummed about it. I feel especially bad for dad because he probably doesn't get soda very often anymore and had to throw out his entire pepsi.

We got home and hung out for a little bit before ash got there to pick me up, mostly checking out how the back yard is looking. There is a rose growing back there now! Seems to be a climbing rose, with nothing to climb on so it's just throwing out tentacles in random directions

Home now and finishing my fish. Gonna work on the art prompt some more today, and I'm working on a new map for Kuris, so I'll do some more with that probably

Need to find a new book to read, the rest of the ones I haven't finished are still on waitlist. I did accidentally check out a book last night (I was trying to put one of the books I'd started back on hold but it glitched and checked out a different book by the same author?) so I may give that a try.

Oz is back to getting her medicine in a treat -- just her pill for a few days and now I'm trying adding the CBD back in. She's still a little shy about it, but she is eating it, so. Hopefully feels better about the whole thing soon

Trying to get a migraine, so probably not actually doing anything tonight. But ash and I got through some more 999, and when we start playing again we'll be right at a room we haven't done before

I also grabbed a China Mieville book to try -- I keep meaning to read more of his books, and wanting some New Weird is a good excuse to dip into him again. Grabbed This Census-Taker, we'll see how I like it
