new game by the developers of How Fish Is Made, they released a demo a while back that got me very excited for the full release. It is a capitalism-horror body-horror Tragedy and I only recommend it to emotional masochists

Man it's okay to not understand something. You ain't gotta make excuses for it

The teacher did cut him off and shut him down a couple times, I think she's getting tired of his nonsense

peak That Guy hours

(Bonus: this is in reference to a Japanese Literature Class in Japan, so yeah probably conducts its lessons in Japanese. (It also is a fictional class in a short story in the text book))

He also got annoyed (and made excuses about) having to read words in hiragana instead of kanji like, dude. Come on.

Bit of a disappointment today!

Through most of my life, I had this music box:

That played A Few of My Favorite Things.

A few years ago, it fell and broke, and rather than try to fix it or hold onto the mechanism, I threw it away. I've regretted doing so, and a few days ago I did a little dive into the internet to see if I could find anything about it -- surely it was mass produced, and maybe there's still some floating around out there. I found a fair number of these:

Which plays An Impossible Dream.

Very similar, possibly the same manufacturer, but not the same. The only pictures I could find of the one I was looking for happened to be 2 ebay listings, one of which had a broken mechanism, but the other seemed to be in fine condition. That working one did say that it played An Impossible Dream, but I thought possibly the seller had confused it for the other model and mislisted the song. It was cheapish, so I grabbed it.

Anyway it arrived and it plays An Impossible Dream.

It also has a broken ear, which the seller noticed before sending and offered a partial refund for, which they haven't actually given yet, so I need to nag them about that, which I don't want to have to do. Ugh.

I wonder if I might be able to find a My Favorite Things music box and frankenstein the wheel into the unicorn music box. Video games have taught me that that should be easy to do, and they wouldn't lie about something like that, surely.

The broken music box listing still exists -- if it has the Favorite Things mechanism then surely it would be compatible with the working one? I can't afford to get that right now but maybe if it still exists later?

Anyway, so I have that now.

I am so very tired

I've got some rough homework due tomorrow, plus the kanji quiz that I swear the professor said was going to be due on Saturday but it's got a due date of tomorrow night, so. Either she forgot or maybe I misunderstood. Maybe have the chapter quiz to do too and that's going to be due Saturday? That probably makes sense. Gonna also be rough though if so.

I absolutely do not have it in me to do either tonight so I'm going to have to Focus tomorrow, which means I should go to bed early tonight so I can be sure to get enough rest -- though 'getting enough rest' has not been happening lately no matter what time I go to bed at. Apparently a lot of people in my circle are having sleep issues, hope that clears up for everyone soon.

I went over the sample ballot for this year's election yesterday while waiting for the inspection, and this is going to be the easiest election we've had since I started voting. Some of that is because California has put actual effort in recent years toward having things written in plain, easy-to-understand language, but some of it is just, this is a very straightforward election year. Obviously I'm still going to do my due diligence and research things to make sure I understand it correctly before voting, but:

Naturally there's the Trump/Harris (/etc) race, that's an easy one. Senator, Congress, and District Assembly races that are all one (1) democrat vs one (1) republican.
Measures for:
-Renew school bonds (yes)
-Amend the California constitution to allow gay marriage (yes)
-Bond for 'safe drinking water, wildlife protection, and protection from climate risks' (yes)
-Housing bonds for low- and middle-income Californians (yes)

And propositions for:
-Eliminate involuntary servitude for incarcerated persons (yes)
-Raise minimum wage (yes)
-Rent control (yes)
-Require drug providers to spend revenue on patient care (yes)
-Medi-cal funding (yes).
-Harsher sentencing for drug and theft crimes (no)
-Different school bonds (yes)
-Funding for emergency fire/medical response personnel (yes)

Kind of weird there's nothing about dialysis in here. And I do not expect the vast majority of this to go the way I want it to, but hell. For this to be what our ballot looks like kind of gives me a little hope

Oh there are also races for Governing Board Member for the Sacramento City Unified School District and the Director for Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, which I do will have to research to even know how I lean.

Aaaand quiz taken and homework done. Had to answer some questions in Japanese about someone I know, so I picked ash who 髪が短くて、背が高くないですが、頭よくて、面白いです (has short hair and isn't tall, but is smart and funny/interesting), in addition to some other basic facts.
