Oh my god I love this professor. The entire class has been uploaded to the canvas, I can see every upcoming assignment throughout the entire semester, I can literally do that thing I was wishing I could do where I watch my grade go up from 0% instead of down from 100%

omg

Cael was laying kind of near Oz and noticed her tail moving, so turned around to sniff it and then groomed it a little and Oz looked Extremely perturbed about it but didn't hiss, swat, or try to get away from him. Extremely cute and I think we're making great strides in getting along. Fingers crossed

A lot of very smart people who seem very qualified to be interpreting that announcement arguing over what the announcement actually means

So I used to read the Sacramento subreddit, and one day a while back there was a post that was something like 'I'm visiting the area and just saw this really pretty bird. What's it called?'

Image

This is a Yellow-Billed Magpie, also known as the California Magpie, because it's only found in California. Not only that, but a small region in California that happens to include the Central Valley. They happen to be Fucking Everywhere around here, they're an extremely common sight, and it never occurred to me before then that they could be a rarity in the wider world.

(They are very similar to the Black-Billed or American Magpie, which has a wider but still limited range of basically the western US, with the obvious difference being the one they were respectively named after)

They are a very pretty bird. And being corvids, they're very fun to watch. And I'm glad to have gotten a reminder that they are special, and that something common to you can be a strange delight to someone who doesn't have your experiences.

I think I'm going to stop doing the daily murdle. I don't think I'm having fun doing it, I find it more tedious than challenging, and I've basically just been sticking with it to keep my streak going.

That was a two and a half year streak, so not bad! But I think it's time to let that go.

Had an Extremely hard time getting out of bed today. Woke up at about eight and then at about eleven and then at about, I think two? And then I just stayed in bed until like five thirty.

ash and I watched a couple of Steven Universe Futures -- very not as good as Steven Universe but still fun. Something we noticed that does bother us a bit is that a couple of fat characters, one of them being Amethyst who is a main character, were drawn noticeably thinner than they were in the original series? Which is a bit yikes. Also not great but in a different way is that the pacing is worse, which is a little sad given how much I've praised the original series for its pacing. I think it's because Future doesn't really have anything it's building to, like Steven Universe did, so there's less flow to the whole thing. I dunno though.

Then we watched the most recent Game Grumps' Next Top Model episode, which we'd been holding off on because it's an hour and a half long and we've had Severances to watch. Sadly we are now caught up on Severance and have to wait for them to release new episodes.

After that a couple of Danny Gonzales videos and a ... I don't actually know the channel but there's a guy with a very comedic British accent who reads things like badly translated text in a funny voice, and we watched one of those. And then ash went to bed and I ate dinner in my room. I've been binging Tor's Cabinet of Curiosity videos, and Supermarket Simulator just released the shoplifting update so I decided to reinstall that and play for a bit. It's good 'have a mindless task to do while paying attention to something else' content. I also get to feel superior by keeping my products below market price and refusing to do anything about shoplifters (I have them enabled, I just haven't been stopping them at all), and still make a profit. Fuck you capitalism, my store is community minded.

Ivy has apparently been jumping the fence into my rose garden section, so tomorrow we're going to take a look at that and see if there's some way we can prevent her from getting back there. I would like to not step in dog poop while tending my plants, nor would I like my roses to get damaged, so. In other plant news, it rained so much that either and hopefully my grape vine is dormant, or it's died. I'll find out come spring, I guess.

Gonna go back to youtube and video games and dinner now. Bed soon
