I'd mash up Karkat talking with himself and Strongbad answering an email but it's not worth the effort because you wouldn't get it

Re: Promiseland
High of 111 today and we had about an hour during which the power was out (so we all got in the pool, but the house had that time to get just that much hotter)
It's too hot for thoughts and too hot for words

Sorry, I /want/ to. But not enough to learn about either of those things, so I guess I probably don't want to.

Woof, I was gonna work on 100%ing Stray but there are some achievements in there that are truly ridiculous, so I guess I'm done with it

Re: Promiseland
Okay, Stray Thoughts
As in about the game
It's fun! Controls are a bit clunky but not enough to really detract from the gameplay experience. The plot is also fun, but very cliche -- you can predict every beat of it, and by a third of the way through will know exactly how it ends. But this is not inherently a bad thing, and is likely intentional because the idea is that it's a very common story -- but the main character is a cat. It wouldn't work as well if it were a very original story but starring a cat (or the current story but with a regular person as the main character).
However, I would like very much for the cat to be more cat-like. The only impact the species of the player character has is on your moveset, you still understand the people talking to you and do the things they ask you to do. There are moments allowed to the player -- scratch this furniture, knock this glass off a counter, take a nap on a pile of pillows, jump onto this gameboard. But the actual game is not constrained by the main character's species at all.
I'd actually argue, honestly, that the player character isn't the main character, the main character is your little buddy following you around. You are enabling the main character to do main character things.
I'd also very like for the world to be opened up some -- largely, I dislike only being able to jump at certain points and onto specific things, but obviously letting the player jump whenever and where-ever they like would be expensive and time-consuming to implement. Still, my opinion, it would be worth it to create a much more engaging setting.
I did get tired of the running theme of 'you must leave this person who helped you behind, forever', but that too is part of the trope they're working with. It just lost its impact by the end. And the cat feels very static much of the time, I'd have liked better/more idle animations or reactive animations, and/or more "meow" buttons -- give me a button to lick my butt. Maybe the 'interact with object' button just does a random cat thing when it's pressed but not prompted, that would be neat.
But! Fun game, good visuals, I enjoyed it. Worth the $30 it costs, definitely.
I want a mod that replaces the cat with a tiny batman.

Found this in our backyard about an hour ago. It's maybe fixed, but dad's going to come by tomorrow to take a look at it anyway
I am extremely sweaty

We've had an alert to conserve power because the energy grid is under too much strain (we have had record highs all over the city today), so I'm hanging out in my room with a single fan pointed directly at me, and my laptop which I'm making sure is charged in case the power goes out. Phone is also fully charged.
It's too hot to do anything.

I need to be awake tomorrow morning which means I went to bed at 11:30 and have spent two hours completely failing to fall asleep

Re: Promiseland
Extremely cool night where the cat has gotten her claws stuck in my flesh and I somehow split my lip in the process of getting her free.
Aside from that, actually an okay day. Didn't end up having dad come over -- the property people got back to us much sooner than expected so in theory we'll have people to come look at the whatever-it-is soon. It was also already 90 outside by the time he was going to be coming over anyway, so a dodged bullet, I think. I'm going to go over to his house this weekend to pick up things and give him some cookies, so that also works out.
I made more cookies last night, this time dusting them with sugar before putting them in the oven and they turned out Amazing. They still get hard very fast, so I'm trying to think if there's anything I can do about that aside from store them in sealed containers/with pieces of bread. I wonder if removing the bacon from the recipe is doing something, and maybe adding a little oil to the dough might help? Unsure, more research required.
But I took some over to the physical therapist when I saw him. Also I won a raffle he'd held to encourage people to review his practice on yelp/google, even though I left my review ages before the raffle started. This does make me worry that no one left reviews and so I won by default, I'd like for his business to get good reviews because it's a good business. But I won a nice water bottle and that's cool.
Aside from all that, very low-key day. Lee and I watched an episode of A Series of Unfortunate Events (we are almost done with it), we ate spaghetti, I got a lore update from Nick. Probably bed early tonight but maybe I'll just chill in bed until regular bedtime anyway. It's still very hot, but not As hot. But hot enough that it's almost nine and we can't open up the house yet.
