Dyed my hair, I tried to do three sections in different shades of blue but two of them turned out pretty much identical anyway. I still think it looks good, though could use some touching up to get some under-dyed spots, which I'm going to get ash to do for me at some point. My hands are also blue now

Still need to shave (head and face) and then the claws

I may be getting sick, which is unfortunate mostly because I've got those vaccines scheduled for tomorrow and now I need to decide if I need to reschedule. I feel mostly fine, but splitting your immune response up like that can make the vaccines less effective. I will probably go, though

ash and I watched a few Worst Cooks today, including starting the next season -- it's the one we both remember the best, though still not super well. We're enjoying it! It's working better than the last season so far, though even that one got better once all the annoying people got kicked off

Oh though we did run into an issue watching it on HBO because HBO has apparently decided to crack down on account sharing. So we started watching it on Roku Channel instead. Y'all hear about the CEO of HBO justifying the price hikes he wants to do? He was like 'people used to pay hundreds of dollars for cable, they can pay more for our streaming service' and it's like, my dude people were getting more than one channel in their cable packages

Also there's a reason people stopped getting cable

I have a lot of trouble getting Cael to play, and I feel bad about it because he does want to play, he just doesn't have any interest in most toys, and I would like some way of getting him to be a little more active. The problem is that his favourite is chasing things, but once it stops moving he stops caring. So I thought: RC car?

Anyway I bought a cheap little RC car and it arrived today. He has shown a little interest in it, not so much in playing with it as supervising it, but that may change as he gets more used to it. We'll see!

Oz continues to spend a surprising amount of time in the front of the house with me (I thought it might happen that having the living room area more central to the house would make the cats feel more secure and that does seem to be the case, many cats have been comfortable coming out to the couch in spite of the change being a pretty big upheaval of the status quo). This also continues to impact her eating, though. I'm not sure what I could do about that

Tonight will be a lot of rest so I can hopefully feel better tomorrow (before I make myself feel worse)

Oz has woken me up about 7 by trying to eat a pillowcase again, which is a problem when I need to be awake to go the pharmacy later and also is very indicative of her eating being bad. Handfeeding her now, but do still need more sleep

I have been vaccinated! It was exactly as easy as it was last year, I walked in, got shot, and left. I barely felt it

And now the government has no way to un-vaccinate me. As far as I know.

On the way there I took a couple of pictures of the stations that turned out really nice, and also a picture on my phone of people stopping on the railroad tracks to wait for the light to turn green. At the Daiso I got myself some shower slippers, the house an ice pick (because we have never had one in this household and it is my opinion that every house should have an ice pick. What if you want to keep a bug in a jar??), and for lunch I got a Fruits Jelly Drink (artificial lychee flavor, with nata de coco) and a coffee flavoured wheat bun. I then got to the train station at exactly the right time to catch the train, and the ride and then walk home was uneventful

I'm going to have lunch and watch a youtube, and it won't be too long before it's time to hang out with ash while dinner gets made. Taskmaster tonight!

Oh, I also need to look at the plans for tomorrow's archive crawl, so I'll do that, too

Archives crawl! Two libraries, the state archives, and a museum all had an event going on today and ash and I went to check it out! We had a plan laid out to get to all of them, but made that plan knowing that it probably wasn't really going to happen, and then the tour we caught at the first spot (the state archives) was an hour long and that pretty much guaranteed we weren't going to catch everything. So we hit up the archives and did that tour (very interesting! But also a lot of standing and walking, and I feel like they should have done a somewhat abridged tour to better enable people doing the crawl part of the crawl to get to other events). We wanted to try to get to the tour at the State Library, so we took a break to sit down for maybe ten minutes and then walked there, where we were told the tour was like twenty minutes and in not-too-long so we figured we'd hang out, check out the displays, and then catch the tour. The displays were very interesting, one of them had a bunch of historical recipes to take home so we grabbed all of those, and learned about the woman who established the first county library system in the state (and was asked to come to Russia to help fix their library system, and then during the Cold War had her passport taken away because of it), and learned about the design of the state seal (for unclear reasons but probably something to do with some conflict happening at the time, the man who designed the seal had someone else present it and pretend to be the designer, that second man got paid for it and then later came back to attempt to get paid a second time).

The tour was a little disappointing. The three tours being offered over the day were apparently three separate tours, which means if you wanted to catch all of it you would need to hang out at one location all day which, again, not great for a crawl event. The woman doing the tour was very unknowledgeable about the history of the building and kept excusing herself with not being from here. The "tour" was confined to one of the rooms in the building, and just about that room (which, nice to sit down the entire time, but not really a tour per se? More of a lecture) -- there are four portraits painted on each of the corners of the ceiling, and before the tour started a woman asked the guide if the one in a particular corner was Sutter, and the guide responded 'One of them is'. I feel like she should know which portrait is who?

There was also a man who asked a very long, winding question with a lot of lead-up and turned out to be asking where specifically Gerald Ford almost got shot by Squeaky Fromme, and then a follow-up question about if the governors can ever be seen walking the grounds of the Capitol, which is. Very suspicious, I think! (The guide did not know the answer to either of these questions). He then took a phone call in the middle of the talk. I expected the guide to ask him to take it outside but she just tried to talk over him for a minute and then waited for him to hang up.

We were both tired and hungry at that point, so we went to grab some food and then go home. I would have liked to have done the other two crawl stops, and to have spent more time at the displays and in the museum at the Archives, but I feel like the events weren't coordinated enough to really allow that. Maybe next year we focus less on the tours and more on the displays, if we go

We picked up some dumplings from a little place near where we were, and Erik kindly picked us up from the light rail station and drove us the rest of the way home. The dumplings were very good and we'll have to go back some time, even though they shorted us one dumpling and were out of one of the things we wanted to order (they were decently busy when we were there)

I wanted to watch Phantom of the Paradise with ash but couldn't find it streaming anywhere, and the DVD-quality version I downloaded didn't come with subtitles and none of the subtitles I could find synced up with it, so I had to get a higher-quality version that would probably work but also take longer to download. (We did try it on the internet archive first but they didn't have subtitles and subtitles were extremely necessary for us to be able to understand what was going on). So first we watched a Worst Cooks and then once ash had dinner thoroughly going we watched Phantom of the Paradise. It's a fun movie! I'd never seen it before (neither had ash) but I heard a lot about it. I felt the script could really use some tightening up, but it's extremely weird and I love that for it. It's very Shock Treatment, before Shock Treatment. It's also Phantom of the Opera, Faust, Picture of Dorian Gray, Rocky Horror,,,

We watched a short youtube after that (on ancient jokes) and then went to bed. I was up early for the crawl, so I was pretty tired by then, and decided to take a nap for a couple hours. Now I'm awake again and going to eat dinner

Tomorrow we have to take Cael to the vet in the early afternoon, and then after that will be video games with Erika and Dave, including a tour of our Satisfactory game. I'll be recording it so ash can also see at some point, and I think Dave also wants to be able to send it to his friend he keeps tormenting with screenshots of our game. ash is going to put dye in my hair and I'm going to put dye in his. And I need to do my homework for this week!

I'd been getting weird vibes from him for a while and now those vibes are justified. A bummer, I'd been keeping an eye on a couple of his projects and now I'm not comfortable supporting them, and I need to decide if I'm even comfortable continuing to look into the Black Crown fwen he releases it. Sucks!

Uuuuuggghh I went looking into this guy again and he's gone full pro-AI, Charlie-Kirk-Conspiracies, the-intolerant-left kind of shit. I really really want to be able to play Black Crown again but like, why's it got to be in the hands of this asshole now?

Cael is home from the vet! He is Covered In Fleas, but we already knew that, the main reason we got him in now was so we could get a supply of prescription-strength treatment. The vet is also very happy with his weight, which is great and means I don't need to adjust his food allotments any more

On the way home we got boba, and I got a pineapple jasmine green tea with strawberry and passionfruit popping boba, and it is So Good. Also the cup lids have little bear ears, it's very cute. Also the boba place is called Bingsu Tea and I keep misreading/misspeaking it as Bingus

Also I got masala-seasoned fries for lunch and they are also very good, and I'm going to go eat some more of them before Erika, Dave and I jump into a voice call to video games together

Yesterday, Dave, Erika and I hung out while Dave showed off our Satisfactory game! I did attempt to record the tour but fforgot to set OBS right so it just recorded a black screen, but the tour was also a little chaotic anyway. At some point I'll do a wholeass longform recording on my end

ash and I watched a Worst Cooks -- I was so worried one of the contestants was going to go home, he was having so much fun doing the challenge and I really didn't want him to end up punished for it, but then he won the challenge!! Good for him!! Keep having fun in the kitchen!! -- and the new Let's Game it Out. Before he went to bed, ash put more dye on my hair for me

Also did homework -- I turned out to only have one of the due pages already written out and not two of them, but the two remaining pages were easy anyway so it was fine. Got that turned in at around 11, and then I washed the dye out of my hair. Without having to worry about staining them with dye anymore, I got the claw nails attached, and then I put the new flea med on Cael. Then I went to bed!

Today I played some Silent Hill F, then studied for class while running software updates and looking for a better copy of the textbook (the one I had didn't have a table of contents or selectable/searchable text, which were turning out to be bigger annoyances than I'd anticipated even after manually setting bookmarks to work as the table of contents). I did find a better one, so now I have that

In class, we started a new chapter, so brand new vocabulary and grammar points. The teacher started off by having us listen to/repeat the example dialogues, then quizzed us on the vocab, and then we watched some videos demonstrating the grammars. Then break, and then we did some practice exercises from the textbook. Notably we did not actually go over the grammar, she expected us to have read it on our own. I think we'll be done with this chapter pretty fast, given both that and that the chapter is pretty short to begin with

One of the annoying students was very talkative today, and Problem Student was around for maybe three minutes?

After class I came in here to eat dinner and watch Game Grumps. I need to refill my water and then I'm gonna chill for a while. Possibly more Silent Hill but maybe just videos until I get tired

Oh, also the new couch got delivered, and I need to put it together tomorrow. They left it in front of the garage, which was annoying, and it's way too much to bring inside all at once -- six, I think, boxes, some of them pretty heavy, stacked onto a pallet. I brought the boxes one-by-one into the garage so it wouldn't get stolen or something, so that's also a thing I did today. Sometime between then and when ash got home, the yardwork people fucked up yet more of the hedges and now we basically have no hedge. So, uh. The property managers didn't seem to care when we let them know about the first time, but we'll do our due diligence and make sure they know about the continued overpruning. ash is also going to touch base on the other maintenance things brought up during the inspection, in particular the broken sprinklers and the hood vent filters

Well! I've been invited out to the movies (and Black Angus) again by my family this Friday, so now I have to decide if I'm going to show up with the claws. Probably not, so that means I'll need to remove them again, sigh
