It would be very cool, I think, to open SnowRPG up to players either as a beta or full release one year from now, on the Snowtowniverse's 20th anniversary. I think this is doable

I'm not caught up on reading through all the comments on the ars retraction notice but I jump ahead to the most recent page every so often so I'll see if there's any actual news on what's happening, yet
For some reason they are discussing sex tourism

Re: Promiseland
Kyle Orland has had a couple articles published since last Friday, so that answers at least one of the questions on people's minds. Not any of the pertinent ones, though

Re: Promiseland
Went to dad's! Took public transit on the way there, largely uneventful though the place to tap your transit card at the light rail station by my house is apparently breaking, and I thought it tapped successfully but the person who checked my fare told me it was expired, which was frankly an extremely nice way to put it because the last time I used that card would have been like a year ago so it would be Very expired. She just told me to tap it when I got off, though, so no big deal. I did so and then took the bus the rest of the way to dad's.
Whenever I do this I always ignore google for the last leg because it wants me to get off a few stops early and walk a different route than what seems to me to be a shorter route, since it's basically a straight shot from there to dad's. It's pretty hilly, however, so I thought maybe I'd try google's way and see if it might be a bit better of a walk. It also, I have no idea how this is possible but google claims that the routes are the same length and when I try to measure them they do in fact come out to about the same length but like
The curvy one just looks a fair bit longer, I don't know how it's not. The longer vertical line before the hook is just making up a lot more distance than it looks like it does, I guess
Anyway it was still pretty hilly and did feel like it took longer, but there were fewer cars so it was a nicer walk. May well keep doing that route in future
At dad's we looked at some old matchbooks -- his family used to collect them, so he has a big vase full of them. They used to grab 'em on road trips and stuff I think, they're from all over the place. We then watched a little TV and talked about the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping which I had vaguely seen pop up in my news feed but didn't really know anything about. And then ash picked me up and we went home! There we watched a digimon and then youtube for the rest of the evening, and now I am in bed and about to get up to give Cael his dinner. I also should eat more, but I am pretty tired. Oz had me up pretty early worrying about her again, plus all that transit.
Yesterday the pool guy actually showed up and cleaned the pool! Very excited about that. Tomorrow a guy is supposed to come to clean out the gutters, which frankly they have needed basically since we moved in. I'll need to be up decently early (for me) for that, so another reason to try to get to bed pretty soon

Official statement from Ars that the investigation is still ongoing, implying talks with the parent company's HR department and the writer's union

Re: Promiseland
Gutter guy came! He spent a little over four hours cleaning the gutters and trimming a tree, and he explained to me that several of the anchors holding the gutters onto the house need to be replaced, but the work is all done and we don't have to worry about getting the gutters cleaned again for at least a year. Except that he didn't do the gutters outside my room, due to the other gutters taking a full four hours and the patio out there being uneven enough and there being a cherry tree in the way that I felt it was unsafe to ask him to do it right then today. But yeah, pretty much all of my day was spent waiting around in the living room in case he needed something.
At nearly four hours I went out there to ask if he wanted a drink, and he took me up on it so I brought him a sunny delight and we talked for fifteen-twenty minutes. I told him that there's usually chips out front for delivery people and whatever but it seemed they'd all been taken already, and he told me that was alright and went on to describe intermittent fasting! This is an uncharitable summary of what he said, but he told me that breakfast was invented by the rockefellers and after eating nothing but meat and vegetable broth and puking for four days he now only eats when he feels like it, which on this day in particular meant that he had had some mexican food yesterday and hadn't eaten at all that day (at three in the afternoon). And you know, I do think people should listen to their bodies more and he was specifically not talking about restricting his diet, just that he eats what he's craving when he's hungry and otherwise doesn't worry about it, and if that's working for him that's great. I did find it funny that he was telling me all about this while drinking a sunny delight, though.
I pivoted from that to talking about wanting to spend less time on screens (the link being 'intuition' and 'listening to your body/self') and we talked about that for a bit, and then I went back inside. While we were talking, though, a woman in a white car cruised by, staring at us, and waved, and I am a little worried about someone like, telling the property managers we were doing something to the house and them sending someone to find out what. Unless the gutters fall off or it turns out he fucked up the roof, I don't think we'd get into much trouble even if they did find out we hired someone to clean the gutters. I think it is reasonable for us to think that cleaning the gutters and maintaining an entryway (the tree was overgrown near the back gate) is our responsibility and if we think that then it is also reasonable for us to hire someone to do it. But I think it is also reasonable for the property managers to feel that there's a liability issue with us doing that and potentially damaging the exterior of the house/the tree or the guy injuring himself on the property. (And I was, in fact, kind of really worried about him being out there on a ladder alone during all this).
But if we had asked permission it would have taken forever to get done (if ever) and there is a good chance they would have sent some guy who would fuck up the gutters and/or leave shit all over the place. And if we complain about that tree I'm very worried about them choosing to remove it entirely. So in this case we have opted to ask for forgiveness, instead, but I'd much rather not do either.
Tomorrow is going to be a me day and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm also pretty excited about going to bed tonight
