"It's so cold, it's -10 C outside" that makes sense

"It's so hot, it's 90 F outside" that makes sense

"It's 14", "It's 32", these numbers are too neutral, it's nothing, who cares

Down to "only" 120 new COVID cases a day in the area, deaths per day staying the same at 2

What about hate routes in the dating sim where instead of trying to romance someone you treat them like complete dogshit and experience consequences

So the game tracks three stats with each character: general amicability, romantic interest, and hate. Dialogue interactions affect amicability, raise it high enough and romancing dialogue options are unlocked, get it low enough and mean dialogue options are unlocked; these both still affect amicability but also raise the separate romantic and hate variables. This means you can befriend characters and stay friends, without being forced to start trying to date them

The game will choose characters to disappear based not on who you have the lowest relationship with, but who you've interacted with least. Functionally the relationship stat has two extremes, and by default characters are in the middle. This means you can "save" two characters by focusing on someone to romance/befriend and someone to torment

Play will have 1-2 endings, your earned "good" ending (if any) with whomever you have the highest valid friendship or romancing score with, then your earned "bad" ending in which whomever you've been insulting all week gets back at you

With the game choosing who disappears based on least interaction, I can minimise how many routes are possible by forcing the player to interact with certain characters in story events, thereby removing them from possible disappearances

There was a Goblin Market in the city today! Apparently this is a thing that's happened a couple times, a pop-up performance art installation where people dressed up as fairies/goblins/what-have-you put out booths of wares you can "buy" for a story or some other intangible thing. Of course Lee and I dressed up and went down there to check it out.

It was fun! Very interesting, but also very crowded. They'd set up on just, a corner sidewalk so it was hard to move around among all the people and the booths. It was also much smaller than I'd expected, maybe six or eight people running booths and a couple of unmanned tables. Because it was so crowded, it was also difficult to actually interact with anyone, so the 'performance' part of the performance art was a little lacking. I did come home with some goodies and didn't have to part with anything I'd miss.

I want more time to prepare next time it happens so I can get a better outfit together -- hopefully it won't happen on a day it's 90 outside, again, though since it was downtown and in the shade it wasn't too bad. I went in a jacket for aesthetics and didn't end up needing to take it off, though I'd planned for that eventuality and had shimmer lotion on my arms. Lee is in communication with them to see about running a booth himself, when it happens again, and maybe it'll happen in a better, more open location as well. I also have an idea for a booth I'd like to run if I had the opportunity, though I'd also just like to go as a patron again.

I'm also trying to gently push Lee toward running just a straight up fairy (&c) convention, though of course that wouldn't happen any time soon itself, either. But it would be extremely fun and very on-brand to make that happen.

When we got home we ate dinner and watched some TV, and then Lee brought up The Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak and that lead to me putting on some old 80s Strawberry Shortcake specials, which are very bad but also very charming, and we had a lot of fun making fun of them and just enjoying the ridiculousness.

Now I'm going to hang out in my room and watch youtube and play phone games until I have to get up and remove my makeup before bed. And then I will sleep, and hopefully get enough of it since tomorrow I don't need to be awake for anything.

(I have the idea of some kind of faerie convention sitting in my head now. We should throw around more semi-serious discussion about what it would look like and involve. I’ve been part of a couple start up conventions, though they were gaming ones. But still, I’ve got a sort of general idea of the thing. But I’d like to talk about what this kind of thing might look like.)

Also, you’re a wonderful, beautiful person and I’m glad you exist.

I lost my ring Friday night, and (found it Saturday morning, but) part of looking for it involved squat-walking through the house to see if a cat had knocked it somewhere; consequently, and on top of other walking activities these past few days, my legs are Dead today

It's the kind of dead where I keep tensing them without thinking about it, which is not helpful

I also think I've been tensing muscles in my sleep, and I'm not sure what I can do about that
