Extremely rough morning -- Oz was waking me up every 40 minutes last night, just, getting in to things. And of course I needed to wake up early to get laundry started, which I've done, because I'm going to be out of the house all day. We're also out of both milk and eggs, so I'm having leftover pasta for breakfast. I considered taking the scooter out to get a donut or something but I don't want to wipe myself out before birthday adventures (which is why I need to actually eat something, as well)

We're going to a minigolf course Lee found about an hour away from us, up in the mountains. It'll be a gorgeous drive and I'm sure a very fun day. I should bring my camera with us

So! I woke up and immediately threw the kakefuton cover and the peed-on blanket into the wash (so I could get the cover hanging to dry in the sun before we needed to leave), ate a food, and got ready to go. As mentioned, Lee found a family fun center up in the mountains for us to try, and since it's an hour drive away we wanted to leave relatively early so we could spend a couple-few hours there and get home in time to not be out the entire day. The drive was, as expected, beautiful, I love being up in the mountains, and the town the place was at is very cute. Also this seems to be the move, is to drive out to dinky little out-of-the-way places to spend our capitol-city money because we did a Lot of arcade games on not nearly as much money as it would have cost at one of our nearby arcades.

Anyway, we got there and it looked... closed? There were a couple kids (and their mom) playing tennis in the parking lot and otherwise no activity, the 'OPEN' sign was not lit, and the windows were blacked out so it was impossible to tell if the lights were on. We sat in the car for a bit while Lee called to ask if they were open and he got an AI that assured him it was which was not actually reassuring. Not long after that, though, we watched some people actually go inside and they didn't seem to get kicked out so we decided to go in, ourselves.

There was an indoor, blacklight, pirate-themed minigolf course, and when we bought access to it they told us they had to go turn it on first, so we were presumably the first people to do it that day. It was fun, thought not at all well-designed as a minigolf course. Most of the holes were very short, several of them were a wild increase in difficulty, and for some reason they decided to make the course 12 holes. I have no idea which of us technically won, though I do have the scorecard somewhere -- we both got "infinity" on a couple holes each because of the aforementioned difficulty spikes. But we had a lot of fun laughing about it and the art and blacklight stuff was very cool.

After that we hit up the arcade section of the center, which had a surprising amount of variety to it. There were also, I would say close to half the total machines were claw machines, and they were pretty cheap per-play so we got to do a lot of those, and we actually won a fair amount of prizes! And of course skiball and air hockey, and there was a basketball game and a ring-toss game that were pretty fun. The ticket prizes were not very attractive, so we did leave with all of our tickets still on our cards -- a little over a thousand of them. We do want to go back some time, though of course the distance means that we'll need a 'special occasion' excuse to do it.

Once we were home, Lee gave me my birthday presents -- a blind-box digimon collectable (Patamon), a new cover for my futon, a bag of funnel-cake flavoured popcorn, and tickets to an upcoming local production of Company! And after that I baked an angelfood cake and then sat down to watch TV until it was time to feed Oz.

We had Church's Chicken for dinner, and watched Starkids' Black Friday while we ate. I haven't seen it since it originally came out, and I did not super care for it at the time. I still was not very into it, but I did both enjoy it more this time I think, and I enjoyed it more than The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals. Lee was similarly unimpressed. The next in that series is Nightmare Time, I think? We will need to watch those

Of course, after the movie (and dessert), Lee went to bed and I've come back to my room. I am almost certainly going to bed a bit early but in the meantime I have been watching game grumps and playing some tomodachi

I am coming down with a migraine again which is a bummer because I do need to go to dad's tomorrow, hopefully I feel better after I've slept

Today I took the scooter up to the donut shop for a donut and a bottle of chocolate milk! It was fun, and Boy does it still wipe my legs out. When I got back to the house I was feeling generally pretty tired so I took a nap, and then I spent the day just chillin'. Some youtubes, some tomodachi life, and I resumed reading Umineko again for a bit. Oh, I also bathed

I'm about to go steal some advil to take, and get Oz her own pill, and then go to bed.

So today I got a text from dad around when I woke up saying that he wasn't feeling well, and also that tomorrow the temperatures are supposed to be much lower than they were supposed to be today, so would it be okay to postpone visit for a day? And I checked in with Lee and then confirmed that it would be okay

Unfortunately Lee has come down with a migraine so isn't actually going to be able to pick me up after all, because he's staying home tomorrow (reasonably). I've opted to go anyway, unless dad says he's still not feeling well tomorrow, because the forecast for the coming couple weeks are low 90s and I don't want to be out in that if I don't have to, so tomorrow's high of 83 is too good an opportunity to pass up. Plus as already mentioned I hate having to reschedule with him as much as I end up doing

So tomorrow I'll be leaving the house at around noon so I can get to dad's around 2 so I can leave again around 3 to go meet Lee at an intersection near where he needs to go to pick up medications at the pharmacy at around 4. And then go home.

Also exciting for tomorrow: I signed up for Imperfect Foods, a grocery delivery service that focuses on not-good-enough-for-the-grocery-store products, and my first delivery is then. I picked out a bunch of stuff that I wouldn't normally have opportunity to try, and I'm excited to get to try them!

As for today, not much happened. I really need to get back on taking my vitamins regularly again because I am noticeably spacey and brainless lately. I have been trying to do python and/or evennia stuff but it's just sliding right off me. The result is I sit in the study doing nothing for a couple hours before I give up and go back to my room

Once Lee was home (and after he laid down for a while) we watched a Digimon, an Any Austin, and then a couple more Digimon and then he went to bed. We had the puppetmon episode that was severely edited for American audiences what with him shooting at a child with a realistic six-chamber revolver, which was a wild experience because we had all of the Japanese visuals with the American dub kind of chopped up to mostly match the plot. It was genuinely shocking, an actual instance of necessary censorship what with how immitateable it was, puppetmon calling the gun a "toy" and playing "tag" with it with TK. Also made for a very scary villain, but not at all appropriate to show to kids who could have actual access to actual guns, unlike most kids in Japan

Anyway!

I have rainchecked games with Dave since I want to go to bed on time tonight, for obvious reasons, which means for the rest of the night I'm going to be doing whatever. Probably more Umineko until I can't with it for a while. I do really should dig the tablet back out (it got buried a little when furniture got rearranged) so I can finish the corpse, and I also have a concept art I want to make for Lee. I do not think that will happen tonight but I need to put it at a higher priority than it has been

Pretty good day! There was scheduling and logistic nonsense that was annoying, but it all worked out and it was a really nice day to be outside. I left the house around 12:30 to get to dad's around 2:30, and I did ride the scooter when convenient and just walked it next to me when it wasn't. It folded up nicely and I was able to prop it between my legs when I was sitting down

I did discover what happens when I try to ride it through sand (it stops immediately and I fall down) but I didn't get too injured from it, might have a bruise on my hip tomorrow. But no scrapes or anything

I also did almost try to get on the wrong bus, but luckily something about me made the driver ask to confirm which bus I was getting on, so that was avoided. After getting on the correct bus, I made it to dad's and we just hung out and talked for a while (and he gave me my birthday present (money)), looked at an old photo album (like, 1800s old). I told him about the minigolf place we went to and that spun him off onto talking about a hiking lodge that may or may not have been in that area and which he and mom used to be members of. He told me about seeing Bob Hope do a show for the troops back when he was stationed up in Alaska.

At 3:20-ish I left to catch the bus to meet Lee where we were picking up dinner, and if the bus hadn't been ten minutes late I would have missed it, but it was and I didn't. Several odd people on that bus, including a woman who switched seats to sit in front of me when the person who had been sitting there got off, and then started vaping (presumably wanting to be on that side of the bus to reduce the driver seeing her). She also was topless when she got on, I assume because she was running and it was hot (her shirt was bunched up around her neck). There was also a man who flipped a seat up so he could stand where it was, with his backpack on the seat next to him, and at one point a person with some manner of movement disorder (possibly tourettes, or something like that). One side of the bus's stop-request-things weren't working, but there was so much getting on and off that bus in particular that it didn't end up mattering much

I got off a stop early because that road has two identically-named stops and I needed the stop after the second one (hate when that happens) but it wasn't that far to walk (and scoot) the rest of the way to the restaurant, and then I stood around waiting for Lee to show up.

As mentioned the weather was gorgeous, just a little hot but not humid and the sun didn't feel too fierce. If I was out in direct sunlight more it probably would have sucked, but I wasn't and the bits between transits were really nice walks.

Once Lee got there I was tasked with going in to get the food. The restaurant was in the back of a store, past the store's storage areas, with a dining area that gave real 'three star hotel dining' vibes. I told the person working there that I was picking up an order and she asked me if it was doordash and, technically?? It was ordered over doordash but as a pickup so like, I am here to pick it up? And there was some confusion where she frowned at the receipt and didn't seem to recognise it, but then found our order and gave me the food, and then also I guess she didn't believe I wasn't doordash because she made me take a picture of it before I could leave, so now I have a picture of our food in my phone

And then we came home! Where! My Imperfect Foods box was! By today I had forgotten what I'd ordered, so it was exciting to get to open it. Some weird fruit (mandarinquats??) and some normal fruits (tiny watermelon) and some snacks (noodle chips) and some pastries (donut muffins) and a lunch or dinner I can make for myself some time (lemon goat cheese raviolis). Oh and a mochi ube pancake mix I'm going to make Lee try with me! Overall very pleased with it, I'm glad to have snacks again, and I'm excited to get to put in another order that I will forget the contents of by next wednesday.

Alright I am due a games with Dave night so I'm going to go play games with Dave!
