Okay, called the vet and relayed everything that happened to someone who is going to email it to the vet for me.

Was in and out of sleep all night worrying about Oz, of course. She's eating a little but back to not enough. Vet office has offered to give us the appetite stimulant that the vet has already approved

I'd like to get more sleep but I don't know if I'll be able to between everything that needs to get done today

Okay, so. Not much sleep and then I got a call about the ultrasound referral, so we've got an appointment for that next monday. It's a morning dropoff and then we'll pick her up after Lee's work, which means Oz is going to be spending all day at the vet's. Hopefully the findings are useful but not too serious

Then after getting some breakfast and getting the blanket cover in the wash, I called the vet's office and relayed everything that had happened yesterday so it could be passed on to the vet. After that the office texted me and asked if I wanted to go ahead and get that appetite stimulant the vet had prescribed, and I said that I thought that was a good idea and asked if I could have chewy deliver it to me, and they said that was possible but strongly encouraged me to get her on the med immediately. Unfortunately it was not possible for Lee to get to the office in time to pick it up after his work and I couldn't afford a lyft up there, so the only thing to do was to take public transit, which was the start of an extremely rough day.

Part of the leg up there is in a different county and after much searching I confirmed that that county is not part of the app that's supposed to replace the connect card, yet, but they do also use the connect card, so I decided to load some money onto that even though the cards are being phased out in a few months (allegedly) and all money on them will disappear into the void when that happens. Unfortunately when I went to tap the card on the first bus the money was still pending so the tap didn't work. So I tried my other card even though I knew it didn't have enough funds on it and then I tried cash even though I know the buses don't dispense change, except that my money was apparently too beat-up for the machine to take so I ended up jamming it with one of the bills, oops. The driver finally just waved me on to sit down, so I did, but that raised the question of what the fuck I was going to do with two connect cards too low on funds to tap and no money in my money accounts (I am very poor this month what with the whole Oz having medical emergencies thing)

My next stop was at a light rail station and pending funds are supposed to be triggered to deposit properly when you tap at a light rail station (why that can't happen on buses, I don't know, but it's moot anyway since the cards are going away), so I figured I would check my balance there, potentially tap for a train I wasn't getting on, and if I was completely stranded I would call dad and beg him for a lyft.

A mini adventure on the way to that stop, there is construction happening and several confusing pedestrian detours making it difficult to get to that station. That station is below an overpass and divided in half so you have to go down one flight of stairs on one side of the overpass to get to one half and down the other flight of stairs on the other side of the overpass to get to the other -- while waiting for my bus a woman came up and asked me how she's supposed to get to the other side, with the construction and all the detours, and I said I didn't know, so she asked a driver and he said 'You don't', so that's great. Awesome planning. He was a shuttle driver for I assume a bus bridge, with the construction, and she asked if he went over there and he was like 'Eventually?' Anyway

I did Not get on that bus like I thought I was supposed to and instead got on the correct bus, and when I tapped my card the reader was broken. I asked if I could get on anyway and the driver let me after a little waffling, and then I rode that bus for thirty minutes to the next stop. That bus was part of the transit for the other county and was much less nice than the SacRT buses -- for example those buses still don't have working signs or recordings telling you the coming stops so you have to rely on the drivers calling the stops out (hard to understand!) and OF COURSE there are drivers who just don't!

I got off the bus because my app said I needed to transfer from the 10 to the 20 but I think possibly the 10 turned into the 20 and I was supposed to stay on? But there was a different 20 that I got on, and of course when I tapped my card the reader didn't work, and the driver just goes 'not workin'' and I asked if I could ride anyway and after a full couple seconds she says yeah and I go sit down. SacRT's policy is that if the means by which you are attempting to pay your fare is malfunctioning or broken then they are supposed to just let you ride without paying, which makes sense because people need to be able to rely on their ability to take transit and it's not my fault if your machine doesn't work, but I guess this other county doesn't feel that way.

Anyway a few minutes later I realised I'd gotten on the wrong bus. I got off a couple minutes after that and as I left the driver said something to me but I didn't catch what it was. An honestly mortifying public transit experience all around.

From there I had to walk for about an hour in probably around 95F heat to get to the office before they closed. This was rough, but I had brought a couple cooling cloths and a water bottle so it could have been worse. That said I am definitely feeling it

Got there, got the medications, went to the bathroom and refreshed the cooling cloths, and then I waited outside for Lee to come pick me up, which he luckily was able to do. Unfortunately he was also testing his ability to get to the vet's from his work to see how feasible getting there before they close is and it's not, particularly. Also unfortunately it seems that me getting there on transit is not, either.

After a brief detour at the store where I sat in the car while Lee got dinner supplies, we came home and now I am sitting in my room with a headache. I took some advil but if they don't kick in soon I'll take a little more with dinner

Was going to go over to dad's today because it's not supposed to be very hot, but I'm opting to stay home and keep an eye on Oz. Going to go over on Friday instead, it's only supposed to be a little hotter then

I started playing Sonic Rumble Party the other day and it is very stupid, very mindless, and exactly the kind of game I need right now

It's a free to play (pay to win) mobile game that's also on steam and it's basically a sonic-themed fallguys clone

Woke up to Oz throwing up her food and it seemed that hadn't been the first time she'd done it tonight, so I gave her a dose of the anti-emetic the emergency vet sent us home with

This morning aside, Oz is doing better again. Her eating is about back to where it was before Sunday. However, I haven't checked today but I think her poops are also back to what they were before Sunday, and she also seems gassy again

I wanted to ask her vet if any of the medications he prescribed are ones she should continue after I run out, and I waited until today to do it because when I called on Monday I was told he would be in the office Thursday, but apparently he was not in fact in the office today so they had to ask the vet that was there anyway. And the office is closed from tomorrow through Monday, so even though I attempted to get orders in for her prescriptions I don't know if either of them got approved before they closed, which is annoying. I actually sent a text asking about dosage because what's available on their pharmacy website doesn't match what's on the label I have, and when they didn't get back to me within a few minutes I went ahead and ordered what I thought was probably correct and then twenty minutes before they closed they sent me a text telling me to order the other one

We also still haven't heard back about the dropoff times for her ultrasound on Monday (at a different office). But we did schedule her followup appointment to recheck her bloodwork on August 7th which is a couple weeks further out than it should be, but it's what we can make work. Hopefully those results are good and we can stop having appointments for a while

I finally got through the python lesson I was stuck on, yesterday, but I had to watch the solution to figure it out, the concepts were super not well explained. The comments on the next lesson are a lot of 'Why wasn't this lesson before the last lesson??' so I assume it explains things better but I haven't had time to get through it yet. I hope that having gotten past that roadblock that the next bunch of lessons will go smoother

Going over to dad's tomorrow and because Lee is staying home (on top of everything going on with Oz, Lee has been having his own stresses) he's going to give me a ride there and back so I don't have to walk in the heat. I would like to pick up the aloe I want to steal from the front yard but I don't have the spoons to do it, so the plan is to get the vet money he's going to give me and take home some art I've been wanting to grab (there's a tetraptych I want to hang above the TV if Lee will let me, and a painting that I learned one of the other times I was over there was painted by my paternal grandmother), and also just generally catch up with him.

Tonight I do want to look over the evennia documentation and see if I've progressed enough in python to start to get a handle on it, but I'm also going to video games. And hopefully! I will go to bed at a decent hour and also sleep through the night because the cats have also slept through the night and not had any issues that require my attention at 4 AM
